Bishop’s Castle Town Hall Renovation project has made considerable progress in the last 12 months, with an outline set of proposals and costs accepted as the basis
for development of an application to the Heritage Lottery Fund.

These proposals were also given 78% support in a month long local public consultation in February.

 But there is still a very long way to go! Other major funders need to be identified and the town must demonstrate local commitment.
 
This building, which for many people represents the town, is worth the effort!  Built nearly 250 years ago, it was an ambitious and visionary project then, replacing an ancient guildhall ‘in a ruinous state’.

This generation of townspeople has decided not to risk that becoming the fate of this iconic building. They want to send it on into the 21st century in a sustainable condition, accessible to all and well used and loved, a building of national significance which is a credit to the town.
