Bishop’s Castle, built on a south facing hill just a few miles from the Welsh border surrounded by the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It has lots of interesting independent shops, two breweries - including the oldest one in the country! - and many good places to eat and drink. Bishop’s Castle is ideal for outdoor activities. It is a “Walkers are Welcome” town, one of five in the hills – Church Stretton, Wellington, Cleobury Mortimer and Much Wenlock A day’s walk away to the south on the Way is Clun which is included in the “within 10 miles” section.
