An 18th century coaching inn with open fires, lower terrace with disabled access
and new toilet extension, upper terrace with masses of mature plants and a large
lawned are giving great views over town and valley. Open for food: Mon to Sat
12.00 noon to 1.45 p.m. , close 2.30 p.m.; 6.30 p.m. - 8.45 p.m. , close 11.00
p.m. Sun 12.00 noon to 1.45 p.m. close 2.30 p.m. ; 7.00 p.m. - 8.45 p.m. , close
10.30 p.m. No food Bank Holiday Mondays. Booking not essential but, due to high
demand, is advisable to book for Friday and Saturday evening and Sunday lunch.

traditional seasonal food, prepared and cooked on the premises using local ingredients
whenever possible. Plus daily specials on the blackboard and our genuine homemade

This
famous and historic pub and brewery has been the "beating heart" of
Bishops Castle since 1642. Recently refurbished and enlarged, it still maintains
the spirit of the original pub - public bar, snug bar, lounge bar - but with the
addition of a classy oak framed, glass sided dining room. A bustling, lively
atmospheric pub created by the many charismatic locals who regard "The Tuns"
as their home from home; it serves a wondrous array of real ales from the adjoining
brewery. Open for food: Mon - Sat 12.00 noon -3pm and 7.00pm-9.00pm. Sun 12.00
noon -3.00pm. Average main dish price: £8.50. Type of menu: a modern,
eclectic menu using locally sourced, fresh ingredients e.g. for starters hot smoked
salmon salad with dill vinaigrette, whole baked camembert with "dipping bread"
and satay king prawns with peanut dip. Main courses include beef & wild mushrooms
in 3x beer with root vegetable mash and chargrilled rump steak burger with tomato/coriander
salsa, coleslaw & fries.
Trad ales: XXX, 1642, Clerics Cure, Castle Steamer plus seasonal
offerings.
A restored and characterfull function
room sees everything from live music (jazz to rock to classical) to line dancing,
Morris dancing, film club and the local rugby club. No piped music or fruit machines.

Mid Wales to London road and has been licensed continuously
since 1750. Unaltered and without inappropriate extension, the
pub retains the warm, friendly atmosphere so often missing today.
The pub is famous today for its range of award winning traditional

refurbished. It is situated 3 miles from Bishop’s Castle
on the B 4385 at the entrance to Walcot Hall,and specialises
in home cooked, high quality, traditional English food sourced
locally where possible. Food is freshly prepared and always
available, along with teas and coffees. Open for food: All day
when the bars are open. Cold food only on Mondays. Relaxing
restaurant with cosy atmosphere open from 7.00 p.m. –
9.00 p.m. every day but Monday (winter opening Thurs –
